Serverless: Lambda

Event-driven serverless functions. Includes Event-Driven Architecture, Auto-Scaling, Pay-Per-Use and Stateless Logic — delivered by IQDigital's senior team.

Serverless architecture runs your code without servers to manage: the cloud provider executes functions on demand and, on consumption plans, bills mainly for the time they run. IQDigital builds event-driven systems on AWS Lambda and Azure Functions, handling cold starts with provisioned concurrency and keeping state in services such as Redis or DynamoDB.

Who it's for

  • Teams that would rather build product than manage servers
  • Workloads with spiky or unpredictable traffic
  • Companies paying for servers that sit idle most of the day

What is serverless architecture?

Managing servers is 'undifferentiated heavy lifting.' It adds no value to your product. IQDigital embraces Serverless architecture (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions) to abstract away the infrastructure entirely. You write code; the cloud provider runs it. You pay only for the milliseconds your code executes, not for idle servers sitting around at 3 AM.

How event-driven systems work

We architect 'Event-Driven' systems. A user uploads a photo (Event); a Lambda function triggers to resize it (Action). A payment is processed (Event); a function triggers to send an invoice (Action). This decoupling allows for infinite scalability. If one user visits, one function runs. If a million visit, a million run.

How we handle cold starts and state

We handle the complexities of 'Cold Starts' and 'Statelessness.' We use provisioned concurrency for critical paths and external state stores (Redis/DynamoDB) for data. We build systems that are inherently scalable, cost-efficient, and operationally simple.

What's included

  • Event-Driven Architecture — Decoupling services via triggers.
  • Auto-Scaling — Infinite horizontal scaling by default.
  • Pay-Per-Use — Zero cost for idle time.
  • Stateless Logic — Designing functions for ephemeral execution.

How an engagement runs

  1. Diagnose (Week 1) — We find the money before we spend yours.
  2. Build (2–8 weeks) — Senior engineers. Your stack. Weekly proof.
  3. Launch (Go-live) — Released against a baseline, not a hope.
  4. Compound (Ongoing) — The second month should beat the first.

How the work is scoped

  • Engagement: Fixed-scope project · optional managed support

Questions about Serverless

Which serverless platforms do you use?

AWS Lambda and Azure Functions.

What does event-driven mean?

Functions run in response to events: a photo upload triggers resizing, a payment triggers an invoice. Services stay decoupled and scale independently.

How is serverless priced?

On consumption plans, mainly by requests and execution time rather than idle servers. Warm capacity is the exception: provisioned concurrency on AWS Lambda and always-ready or Premium instances on Azure Functions are billed even when idle, so we use them only where response time justifies the cost.

What about cold starts?

For critical paths we use provisioned concurrency so functions are ready to respond, and keep state in external stores such as Redis or DynamoDB because functions themselves are stateless.
