Zero Trust: Access Control

Zero trust security treats every request as untrusted until it is authenticated, authorised and encrypted — whether it comes from the office or a coffee shop. IQDigital implements zero trust with identity-aware proxies, single sign-on and MFA instead of VPNs, device posture checks, least-privilege access and short-lived credentials.

Who it's for

  • Remote and hybrid teams working outside a single office network
  • Companies relying on a VPN that grants broad network access
  • Organisations preparing for security reviews from enterprise customers

What is zero trust security?

The old model of 'Castle and Moat' security—trust everyone inside the network—is dead. IQDigital implements Zero Trust Architecture. We operate on the principle: 'Never Trust, Always Verify.' Every request, whether from inside the office or a coffee shop, is treated as hostile until authenticated, authorized, and encrypted.

How identity-aware access works

We implement 'Identity-Aware Proxy' (IAP). Users do not VPN into the network; they authenticate via SSO (Single Sign-On) and MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) to access specific applications. We use 'Device Posture' checks—ensuring the user’s laptop is encrypted and patched before granting access.

How least privilege limits damage

We enforce 'Least Privilege.' A developer gets access only to the dev environment, not production database keys. We use short-lived credentials that expire automatically, minimizing the damage of leaked keys. We secure your organization for the era of remote work, where the perimeter is everywhere and nowhere.

What's included

  • Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP) — Application-level access control.
  • Device Posture Checks — Verifying endpoint health before access.
  • Least Privilege Access — Granular permissions management.
  • Short-Lived Credentials — Rotating keys to prevent theft.

How an engagement runs

  1. Diagnose (Week 1) — We find the money before we spend yours.
  2. Build (2–8 weeks) — Senior engineers. Your stack. Weekly proof.
  3. Launch (Go-live) — Released against a baseline, not a hope.
  4. Compound (Ongoing) — The second month should beat the first.

How the work is scoped

  • Engagement: Fixed-scope project · optional managed support

Questions about Zero Trust

What does "never trust, always verify" mean?

No request is trusted because of where it comes from. Each one is authenticated, authorised and encrypted before it reaches an application.

Does zero trust replace our VPN?

For application access, yes. Users authenticate through single sign-on and multi-factor authentication via an identity-aware proxy to reach specific applications, rather than joining the whole network.

What is a device posture check?

Verifying that a device is healthy — for example encrypted and patched — before it is allowed access.

Why use short-lived credentials?

Credentials that expire automatically limit the damage if a key is leaked, and least-privilege access ensures people reach only what their role needs.
